For today’s Friday Favorites post, I’m going to share about my client management system that I could not live without. I’ve been using it for three or four years. and it has truly made all the difference in running my business. I’ve been told over and over, “wow you are so organized” and a huge part of that is having everything client related in one place.
When I first was deciding on Honeybook, I was at a place in business where I just didn’t know if Honeybook would be worth it. There’s a monthly/yearly cost, and I already had website expenses and such. I can honestly say, I wish I got it sooner. You cannot put a price on setting up an organized and sustainable business. In order to run a business, there ARE going to be expenses. A lot of people want to be a photographer, but there is so much work that goes into it. If there is one thing I can encourage you with today, whether or not you use Honeybook, please set yourself up for success. Whether you’re just starting out, or have been in business for years. Showing up to a session is maybe 10% of what you do.
We all dread tax season, but let me tell you, we don’t have to! My friend Jess has been such an encouragement over the years and her advice on business has always stuck with me. Literally from the start of my business I was blessed with advice from mentors and friends who really helped me set myself up for success. It’s never too early to get systems in place because the last thing you want, is to be in the thick of your season, and be unorganized, or unprepared.
Whether or not you’re charging for your sessions (which you should be!) you need to use contracts. You want to have all of your offerings up front so that not only it’s clear what can be expected of your services, but also so that your clients know when xyz happens. It’s so important to be clear about your offerings and that is why a contract is necessary for all involved. Honeybook has made contracts SO much easier in my life and everything is done digitally. Not only do all my sessions get booked through Honeybook, but there are so many other amazing features it would take all day to share. 😉 My favorites are definitely the booking process though, because it has transformed the way I do business greatly over the years.
When a client books, it automatically fills in my calendar and automates that process which is just the best. Bookings get automatically deposited into my account and saves me SO much time. When you’re running a business, automation as much as possible can allow space and margin for time spent elsewhere. This is a must for me!
